Lyfthrasyr is a German metal band from Karlsruhe, founded in 2002 .
The name can be traced back to a person in Norse mythology . Lifthrasir was one of the two people who survived the Ragnarök (the end of the world ) and then repopulated the world again. The spelling with the y is used to make the band name unique.
history
The band was founded in 2002 by Aggreash as a solo project under the working title Eternal Darkness . Aggreash took over the duties of singer, lyricist, keyboardist and bassist. His music shows influences from numerous genres, including black metal and atmospheric film music . There are also piano passages that have classical influences .
The first demo Beyond the Frontiers of Mortality was recorded in 2004 alone. Due to the great success of these first recordings, the two musicians Mathar (drums) and Insorior (guitar) became aware of the project and joined the band.
In the summer of 2004 the band played their debut concert with Lacrimas Profundere . The keyboard passages were played by the tape to relieve Aggreash on stage. After further successful concerts, the recording of the first studio album The Final Resurrection began in early 2005 , which was mastered by Mika Jussila in the Finnish Finnvox Studios .
At the end of 2005, drummer Mathar was replaced by Skytorian and Lyfthrasyr played at numerous concerts and festivals. In 2007 their current album The Recent Foresight was recorded in the Fredman studio in Gothenburg and mastered in the Stockholm Cutting Room. The album was released worldwide on November 30th. At the end of 2007 they went on a European tour with Kataklysm , Behemoth and Aborted .
In early 2010, Aggreash announced a complete line-up change. In addition to drummer Nefastus, who was previously active with Belphegor , live keyboardist Vethys and guitarist Zethos were permanently or newly accepted into the band. A new album, initially also announced for 2010, was not released for a long time. Instead there were some concerts with the new line-up in 2010 and 2011, most recently the so-called East Tour with performances and the like. a. in Moscow, Kiev and St. Petersburg. On November 29, 2013, the album The Engineered Flesh was released.
