Cinderella Love Story (Original title: Lying to Be Perfect ) is a Canadian - American television film directed by Gary Harvey from 2010. The romantic comedy is based on the book The Cinderella Pact by Sarah Strohmeyer .

Nola Devlin works as an editor for the women's magazine Shine , where she is solely responsible for Belinda Apple's very popular column. Belinda Apple gives women tips on lifestyle issues. What no one suspects: she invented Belinda Apple because her editor-in-chief rejected her own suggestions only because of her appearance. With its new identity, the column will be a complete success. The somewhat chubby Nola gets into a quandary when the author's presence is required for the first publication to be able to publish the collected columns in book form. First she holds out her editor-in-chief, but she increases the pressure.

At the same time, she meets the extremely attractive editor of the book, former playboy Alex Stanson. However, due to a mix-up, she considers him an IT specialist Chip. A friendly, then a romantic relationship slowly develops between the two. Nola, who suffers from complexes due to her appearance, makes the Cinderella pact with her two friends. All three want to lose weight together in order to be able to wear their dream outfits.

After a few tangles, Nola decides to take on the role of Belinda at the release gala. After losing weight, she is increasingly resembling her photo-shoped alter ego. When the book is published, however, she decides to reveal her true identity at short notice.

At the end of the gala, shortly before midnight, your car is towed away. As she chases after this, she loses her shoe, which Alex then adjusts in a gesture similar to that of Cinderella . In the end, her book appears as “The Cinderella Pact” under her real name and becomes a bestseller .
