Mário Nicolau dos Reis ( Marito Reis , * in the municipality of Baucau , Portuguese Timor) is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD) .

Reis was involved in the resistance against the Indonesian occupation (1975-1999). He was Secretary of Region V. In 2006, Reis was therefore awarded the Ordem Nicolau Lobato for civilians in the struggle for freedom. Reis was a prisoner of the Indonesians in Cipinang maximum security prison for a total of twelve years .

During the UN administration of East Timor, Mário dos Reis was appointed Transitional Administrator of the Baucau district at that time by UNTAET in 2000. From August 2007 he was State Secretary for National Liberation Veterans Affairs and thus responsible for the former fighters of the resistance against Indonesia. After the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Reis resigned his post as State Secretary when the new government took office on August 8th.

Mário is the brother of Vicente dos Reis , who died in the fight for freedom against the Indonesians in 1979 and is revered as a popular hero. Mários sister Terezinha de Jesus dos Reis has been Chefe de Suco in Bucoli since 2005 . The brother José Reis is Deputy Secretary General of FRETILIN and since 2017 Adjutant of the Prime Minister for government affairs with the rank of minister. Another sister is a member of the national parliament of East Timor for FRETILIN . Vicente's son is the district coordinator of FRETILIN in Baucau.
