Märija Nurghaliqysy Omarowa ( Kazakh Мәрия Нұрғалиқызы Омарова , Russian Мария Нургалиевна Омарова Marija Nurgalijewna Omarowa * 1. March 1951 in Koktal, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh doctor and politician .

Life

Märija Omarowa was born in 1951 in the village of Koktal in today's Panfilow district in the Almaty region. She completed a medical degree at the State Medical Institute in Alma-Ata .

From 1974 to 1995 she worked in various positions, including as a doctoral candidate and as head of the Department of Ecology and General Hygiene at the Almaty State Medical Institute. She was then head of the science department and deputy head of the science, education and human resources department of the Kazakh Ministry of Health for two years . Between 1997 and 1999 she headed the Medical Science Department of the Health Committee in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Health. In 1999 she was the vice-chairperson of the Health Committee in the Ministry of Health, Education and Sport. From November 1999 to August 2000, she held the position of chairman of the Agency for Health Issues, the predecessor institution of the Ministry of Health. Since 2000 she has been the director of the Kazakh Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology.
