Schaqsylyq Aqmyrsauly Dosqalijew ( Kazakh Жақсылық Ақмырзаұлы Досқалиев , Russian Жаксылык Акмурзаевич Доскалиев Schaksylyk Akmursajewitsch Doskalijew ; * the 30th November 1955 in Alga , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh doctor and politician.

Life

Schaqsylyq Dosqalijew was born in Alga in the Aqtöbe region in 1955 . He graduated from Aktobe State Medical Institute in 1979 . He then worked as a surgeon in the central hospital in his hometown of Alga until 1986 . From 1986 to 1988 he was employed at the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Soviet Union. Subsequently he worked at the state medical institute Aqtöbe and from 1993 as head of the department for endoscopic surgery at the scientific center for surgery. From October 1998 to August 2000 he was rector of the Aqtöbe Medical Academy.

In 1999 and 2000 Dosqaliev held political office for the first time as a member of the regional parliament of the Aqtöbe region. From August 2000 to October 2001 Dosqaliev was the chairman of the Kazakhstan Health Agency. On October 17, 2001, he was appointed Minister of Health of Kazakhstan after the Health Agency became a ministry. On April 4, 2004, he was appointed rector of the Kazakh State Medical Academy in Astana . After the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was a member of the Mäschilis for Nur Otan . On November 20, 2008, Dosqaliev was reappointed Kazakh Minister of Health.

In September 2010, the Kazakh financial police began investigating Dosqaliyev for embezzlement , bribery and illegal real estate deals . To avoid prosecution, he faked a stroke . The attending physician later admitted to having made a false diagnosis at Dosqaliyev's request. On October 7, he was dismissed from his post as minister and replaced by Salidat Qajyrbekova . In October 2011, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for illegally accepting nine apartments from a construction company as a bribe. He was released early in January 2012 because Kazakhstan's President Nazarbayev reduced his prison term to two years.

Since September 2012 he has been head of the Republican Transplant Center.
