Qyrymbek Köscherbajew ( Kazakh Қырымбек Елеуұлы Көшербаев Qyrymbek Eleuuly Köscherbajew , Russian Крымбек Елеуович Кушербаев Krymbek Jeleuowitsch Kuscherbajew * 20th May 1955 in Kasalinsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician.

Life

Köscherbajew was born in 1955 and graduated in 1978 with a degree in civil engineering from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in Alma-Ata . He then worked as an engineer and from 1979 he was involved in the regional department of the Komsomol in Ksyl-Orda . Until 1988 he held various positions in the Komsomol within the Kazakh SSR. In 1991 he received a doctorate in political science .

In 1991, Kozherbayev was an advisor in the Department of Culture and International Relations of the Presidential Administration of the Kazakh SSR and, after the country's declaration of independence, was also an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister. In 1994 he was appointed district manager of the Kalininski district (now Bostandyq), a district of the then capital, Almaty. After about a year in this post, he returned to national politics and was first head of the domestic affairs department of the Kazakh Cabinet of Ministers and then head of the regional development department. From 1996 to 1997 he was press officer and head of the presidential press service. Under Prime Minister Nurlan Balghymbayev, Kozherbaev moved up to the Kazakh government and held the post of Minister for Education, Culture and Health; after a reorganization of the ministry, he was minister for health, education and sport from January 1999. From October 1999, he was Minister of Education and Science in Qassym-Shomart Toqayev's cabinet .

On December 18, 2000, Köscherbajew was appointed Äkim (governor) of the Kazakh province of Western Kazakhstan . From November 2003 he represented Kazakhstan's interests as ambassador to Russia . On January 24, 2006, he was transferred to the post of Äkims in the Mangghystau region . After the violent protests in Shangaosen, which resulted in several deaths, Köscherbayev resigned from his office on December 22, 2011, although President Nursultan Nazarbayev did not publicly hold him responsible.

After he was dismissed as Äkim, he returned to the position of adviser to the President in July 2012 and became Deputy Prime Minister on September 26th. On January 17, 2013, Kozherbaev was appointed Äkim of the Qysylorda region .
