The Mäulesmühle is the third of the eleven mills in the so-called Siebenmühlental . It is a residential area in the Musberg district of Leinfelden-Echterdingen in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg

The Mäulesmühle is a little below 390  m above sea level. NHN in a short southern area tube of the Musberg district down into Siebenmühlental, which from here is accompanied by forest heights on both sides. It lies on the east bank of the Reichenbach stream flowing through the valley , to which the Weilerwaldgraben runs from the left and north at a bend to the south . The K 1227 through the valley opens up the place and leads from Musberg via later the L 1208 to Steinenbronn in the neighboring district of Böblingen . The center of the village of Musberg is about one kilometer to the northwest, that of Leinfelden about one and a half kilometers to the northeast and that of the municipality of Steinenbronn is not quite three kilometers to the south (as the crow flies).

In terms of natural space, the Mäulesmühle is located on the border between the southern Glemswald and the northern Schönbuch .

History and description

The first mention of the Mäulesmühle dates back to 1383. In 1819 the two-story half - timbered house that can be visited today was built. The mill operation of the water mill was stopped in 1945. The name goes back to that of the Maylen family, who ran the mill in the 17th and 18th centuries; the name Maylens Mühle changed over time to Mäulesmühle .

The Mäulesmühle now houses the “Optimal” organic restaurant and the mill museum. The latter is open from Saturday to Tuesday from 2pm to 6pm and by appointment. Every Sunday at 5 p.m., the listed mill wheel and grinder are put into operation.

Since 1975 the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Leinfelden-Echterdingen has been organizing the Waldheim Mäulesmühle outskirts recreation during the summer holidays around the mill and in the Komede-Scheuer . In 1985, the Komede-Scheuer, which belongs to the mill, hosted the performances of Hannes and the Mayor , a series of popular theater pieces with sketches in Swabian dialect. Since 2019 the performances of Friends in the Mäulesmühle have followed . A SWR production .

Every May 1st and on Ascension Day (Father's Day), the Musikverein Stadtkapelle Leinfelden organized the May hocketse mill hubbub in the Mäulesmühle .

The Faller company has a 1:87 scale model kit of the Mäulesmühle.
