The Mäuseberg (also Mäuseberghöhe ) is a completely wooded, 371.1 m high elevation in the Kirstingshof corridor of the Krayenberg community in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .
The flank that drops steeply into the Werra Valley is known as the “Mäusewand”. The Kirschgrund with the Kirstingshöfen is located on the western edge of the Mäuseberg. The valley cut to the east of the Mäuseberg is called the Kambachsgrund. The Mäuseberg marks the southern edge of the Frauensee forest , it has been used for agriculture and forestry for centuries. In the Middle Ages, a branch from the Hohen Strazza from Vitzeroda to Dorndorf led across the mountain . Hollow paths in the hillside on the east side of the mountain are evidence of this.
Via the Kambachsmühle you get to Springen and Frauensee . The “Mäusetal” forest area around Springen on the northern slope was part of the “ Kalikombinat Merkers ” mining landscape in the Werra potash district . Most of the technical systems that were also available above ground (shafts, pipeline network, pump and compressor stations, Kaliseilbahn Springen – Dorndorf ) have been dismantled, with the exception of a few remains.
