biography

At the age of 17, Suchet won her first points in the World Cup on December 4, 1993, finishing tenth in the downhill in Tignes . She achieved her first podium on January 29, 1994 with second place behind Isolde Kostner on the downhill run in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . A few days later she finished second again on the downhill in the Sierra Nevada , just 0.01 seconds behind Hilary Lindh . In the 1993/94 season she finished third in the Downhill World Cup. At her first Olympic Games in 1994 in Lillehammer , she was sixth in the downhill. At the end of March she won the gold medal in the downhill at the 1994 Junior World Championships in Lake Placid .

In the following seasons she could only contest a few races due to a knee injury, only in the 1997/98 season she made it back to the top of the world. On January 23, 1998 Suchet won their first and only World Cup race, the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo . This was followed by a second place in the downhill and a third place in the Super-G. At the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , she just missed a medal in fourth in the downhill and eighth in the Super-G. The following year she finished sixth in the downhill at the 1999 World Championships in Vail .

Also due to minor injuries, Suchet was rarely able to place in the top ten. At the end of the 2001/02 season she reached a second and a third place in the downhill. On December 3, 2004, on the descent in Lake Louise , she fell during the target jump and suffered a rupture of the right patellar tendon . Shortly thereafter, she announced her retirement from active ski racing.

In 2002 Suchet was invited to a rally raid race together with her team colleague Carole Montillet . In 2003 they took part in the Aïcha des Gazelles rally in the Moroccan desert for the first time. They immediately took second place in the quad category. They won the race for the second time in 2004, and in 2005 they repeated this success. After that, they parted ways and until 2007, Suchet took part in a few road rally races as part of the France Cup and the Amateur Trophy .
