Mélodie Zhao (* 1994 in Gruyères ) is a Swiss pianist and composer .

biography

education

Mélodie Zhao received her first piano lessons at the Beijing Music Conservatory when she was two years old . At the age of nine she began studying at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva . From 2007 to 2010 she studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève with Pascal Devoyon ( Bachelor and Soloist Master's degree), which she then followed for a second Master's degree at the University of the Arts in Berlin . She also took lessons from Paul Badura-Skoda in Paris and Vienna .

Parallel to her pianistic training, Mélodie Zhao began studying composition at the age of 15 with Jean-Claude Schlaepfer in Geneva and Nicolas Bacri in Brussels .

Career as a pianist

Zhao began giving concerts at the age of six, and as a soloist with an orchestra at the age of ten . Since then she has z. As a composer, she has received commissions from orchestras and ensembles such as the Rudra Béjart Ballet and the China National Opera , and she also writes film music .

Her works include chamber music , orchestral works and sacred music as well as highly virtuoso solo piano literature.
