Mörtingen is a suburb of Schweindorf , a district of Neresheim .

location

The hamlet of Mörtingen is located on a plateau of the Swabian Alb , the Härtsfeld . With the county road K 3303 the place is connected to the road network. Schweindorf is about 1.5 kilometers from Schweindorf and about 6 kilometers from Neresheim.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1140 as Maerdingen . In 1371 and 1408, the Nördlingen hospital acquired the place, including the bailiwick and church set, from the Nell von Aufhausen and the von Katzenstein families . Mörtingen, at that time still a village with its own church (St. Lorenz), was probably destroyed in the city war of 1442/49 and never regained its old importance.

Between the 15th century and after 1896 the place was called Mörtinger Höfe .
