Location of Dehlingen in Baden-Württemberg

Dehlingen (Swabian: "Dealig") is a hamlet in the town of Neresheim , which belongs to the district of Ohmenheim .

Location and geography

The place is about 3.3 kilometers north of Ohmenheim and six kilometers north of Neresheim. The L1070 country road is located directly next to the town in a north-south direction, the K3296 district road comes from Weilermerkingen in the west and leaves the town northwards in the direction of Härtsfeldhausen .

The place is on the Härtsfeld , a plateau of the Swabian Alb . The so-called Gassenbach leads directly past the place, but it is mostly dry due to the karstification of the Härtsfeld. Other dry valleys also meet the valley of the Gassenbach (Gassental) coming from Unterriffingen in the area of Dehlingen and thus form a lower-lying area with more fertile soil, which was probably decisive for the settlement in this area.

history

The Roman road that connected the Roman forts in Oberdorf ( Opie ) and Faimingen ( Phoebiana ) once ran along the western end of the village .

Due to the ending -ingen , the actual place suggests that the place was founded by Alamanni .

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1144 as Dalingen , when a farm in the village went from the taverns of Schenkenstein to the Neresheim monastery . Even later, parts of the place belonged to the Schenkenstein family. The Counts of Oettingen and the Lords of Rechberg were also wealthy , each enfeoffed by the Ellwangen Monastery .
