The Azerbaijani authorities asked the ICRC International Committee to mediate in the return of İbrahimov's body. Later, the Patriarch of the Armenian Apostolic Church Karekin II asked the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to bring the body back to Azerbaijan. Finally, the body was returned to Azerbaijan on November 6th, following the agreement reached by the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Astrakhan in October 2010.
