The Mühlenau (also known as Stegau ) is a right tributary of the Bekau in the Heide-Itzehoer Geest in the Steinburg district , Schleswig-Holstein . It is a gravel-shaped river .

The Mühlenau rises north of Schenefeld , flows through the mill pond in Siezbüttel , through the communities of Hadenfeld , Mehlbek and Kaaks and flows into the Bekau in Kaaks. The Meiereibach and the Pöschendorfer Graben flow into the Mühlenau .

As part of the protected area and biotope network system of Schleswig-Holstein, plans are being made to renaturate the stream, which has been straightened and expanded over long stretches, including the river basin.
