Architecture and history

Side building along Rittergasse

The property includes three half-timbered houses that are grouped around the corner of the streets. The Cafè Romanik is located on the ground floor of all three buildings . The direct corner house was built around 1740 and has the typical half-timbered facade design of its construction time. There is also a baroque staircase. The existing shop facade on Mühlenstraße dates from around 1890. The building is traditionally the location of a bakery. A document is mentioned in 1703, although the tradition is said to go back to the Middle Ages . The women's monastery is said to have been supplied from the bakery. Today there is an oven in the house from 1910. The oven manufactured by the Daup company from Chemnitz had two firing systems and was in operation until 1964. For some time baked goods and later drinks were sold in the shop. The drinks sales point existed until 1990. Around 1995, a new owner renovated the building. The café was built on the ground floor. In addition, three apartments, including two holiday apartments and an office, were set up.

To the west of the corner house on Mühlenstraße there is a smaller half-timbered house built according to a building inscription in 1698, on the facade of which there are pyramid beam heads.

An elongated three-storey side building, built in 1703, runs along Rittergasse. The upper floors of this house also protrude slightly.
