Mümmelmannsberg is a large housing estate built between 1970 and 1979 in the Hamburg district of Billstedt , named after the street of the same name that was here before the settlement was built.

The large housing estate was built between 1970 and 1979 in three construction phases. The quarter is usually referred to as "Mümmel". The initial "bunny hill", however, is no longer in use.

Location and transport links

Mümmelmannsberg is located in the eastern part of Hamburg, directly adjacent to Havighorst ( Schleswig-Holstein ). The Boberger Niederung nature reserve and the Glinder Au border this settlement and are popular local recreation destinations for the Mümmelmannsbergers.

Mümmelmannsberg is accessed from the B 5 ; the A 1 -Departure Hamburg-Billstedt is about 200 meters. Since 1990 the settlement has had a direct connection to the Hamburg rapid transit network with the Mümmelmannsberg underground station . Since then, the travel time to the city center by public transport has been around 20 minutes. In addition, the bus routes 12, 29 (until 2018 232), 332, 233 and 609 run in Mümmelmannsberg.

social life

The sports clubs MSV Hamburg and SC Europa located here have a wide range of leisure activities. Some projects, e.g. B. “Let 1000 stones roll”, “the youth days” or the House of Youth offer special offers for young people. The evangelical community center Mümmelmannsberg is located in the immediate vicinity of the underground station .

The proportion of foreigners is almost 23 percent; the proportion of unemployed and welfare recipients is above average.
