history
The plans for a subway station in built in the 1970's housing estate go Mümmelmannsberg far back as the 1960s. The station planned at the time, which provided for a route under the street Mümmelmannsberg via Kirchsteinbek to Billstedt, was not realized. Instead, from 1987 onwards , the underground station designed by Timm Ohrt and Hille von Seggern was built at the intersection of Kandinskyallee and Mümmelmannsberg. The station was built as a multi-purpose building and opened on September 29, 1990.
Initially, the station was served by the U3 line. On June 29, 2009 , the U2 and U3 lines exchanged the eastern branches, since then Mümmelmannsberg has been served by the U2; the U3 took over the section previously served by the U2 to Wandsbek-Gartenstadt
Infrastructure
The underground station is equipped with a central platform. There are entrances to the platforms at both ends of the platform, with the entrances at the southern end of the platform leading to the bus stops. In addition, there is an elevator approximately in the middle of the platform, which leads from the platform to the street level without possible intermediate stops.
