The Lutterothstraße is a tunnel station of the Hamburg subway - U2 .
Expansion and location
The Lutterothstraße stop is in a simple, low-lying area under Methfesselstraße, roughly between the intersections with Eidelstedter Weg in the north and Lutterothstraße, which gives it its name, at the south end. The underground station is thus directly on the border between the districts of Eimsbüttel and Lokstedt . It has a central platform about 120 meters long, which is connected to the surface at both ends by stairs. At the north end these lead into a small entrance hall on Hagenbeckstrasse.
At the south end a staircase leads to Else-Rauch-Platz . On this side of the platform there is also an approximately 100-meter-long pedestrian tunnel, which is located between the two direction tracks of the subway. It leads to another exit on Stellinger Weg.
The station abbreviation at the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn AG is "LT". The distance to the Osterstraße station is around 800 meters, and it is almost 1.2 kilometers to Hagenbeck's zoo.
history
The Lutterothstraße underground station was created with the extension of the then Eimsbüttel branch of the underground towards Lokstedt. This route ended at the Hellkamp stop, which was only about 300 meters from today's Lutterothstraße underground station. Since the distance between the two stations would have been too short, Hellkamp was given up in 1964. This was followed by the dismantling of the station and the connection of the existing line with the extended underground line, which also included the new Lutterothstrasse station. In March 1965, operations could be resumed.
