Müssingen is a district of the district town of Warendorf with approx. 1270 inhabitants. It lies south of the Ems and east of Munster .

history

Today's Warendorf district of Müssingen emerged from a peasantry that was first mentioned in 1040 as "Mussa" or "Musna".

The settlements of displaced persons and refugees from the former German eastern areas that took place here after 1945 mainly took place in the so-called 'Ein'schen Brinke', the region between the B 64 and the town of Eine , which is located on the northern bank of the Ems. To provide living space, the Müssinger Fensterberg, a hill created by sand drifts in the southern Emsaue, was gradually removed.

Many workers from the labor camp for Emsbegradigung in Müssingen also stayed in Müssingen and settled there. Until the local community reform on January 1, 1975, Müssingen was still part of the Everswinkel community , but was then reclassified to the town of Warendorf. This incident explains that Müssingen still has the same area code as Everswinkel. The population of the village rose sharply, especially in the 1970s, and reached growth rates of up to 7% at peak times.

Economy and Infrastructure

Müssingen is not a notable business or industrial location, but the place has a distinctive service sector, which is mainly represented by two painting companies and an electrical company as well as a civil engineering company. The food supply for the population of Müssingen is ensured by a bakery branch and the supermarket in the neighboring village. In Müssingen there is also a branch jointly operated by Sparkasse-Münsterland-Ost and Volksbank, in which residents have access to ATMs and account statement printers, as well as advice from specialist staff on some days of the week. Furthermore, the place has an excellent transport infrastructure with a federal road, rail and bus line connection. In January 2006, Müssingen was connected to the DSL network, which is now available in parts (not all) of Müssingen, but in most cases the speed was limited to DSL light (384 or 768). In 2012 there was an increase in the available Internet connection, so that today DSL 16000 and in many cases VDSL50 are available nationwide. In 2017 the location was connected to the fiber optic network of Deutsche Glasfaser .

traffic

The Warendorf Eine-Müssingen stop was opened on the Münster – Rheda-Wiedenbrück railway line in 2016 . The RB 67 stops here every hour in each direction .

Associations / parties

Müssingen has a pronounced club life, because in the small town there is not only the sports club SC Müssingen 1949 eV, but also the St. Georg Rifle Society and its own marching band. The CDU local union Eine-Müssingen is equally active for both districts (one and Müssingen).
