The M13 (Armenian: Մ 13) is a main road in Armenia . The road branches off from the M2 in the south of the country and ends at the border with the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic , an exclave of Azerbaijan .
history
The M13 was originally part of the Soviet road A317, which of Yevlax in Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan ran. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , part of the road was in Armenia and part in Azerbaijan. The borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been closed since the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict . As a result, the Azerbaijani enclave Nakhichevan is isolated from the rest of Azerbaijan, as there is no direct land route between the two parts. The Armenian part is now renumbered as M12 , M2 and M13.
