The MGM Grand Garden Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas , Nevada . The arena is designed like Madison Square Garden in New York City and has a capacity of 16,800 spectators. It is located on southern Las Vegas Boulevard .
Sporting events
- In 1994 the Las Vegas Dustdevils played one season of indoor soccer in the Continental Indoor Football League at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
- The arena was the site of Evander Holyfield's heavyweight boxing fights against Mike Tyson in 1996 and 1997.
- In January 2011, fifteen UFC events were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena
Concerts
- Elton John and Billy Joel gave a concert on their "Face to Face Tour" in the arena on March 25, 1995, Elton John's birthday. In the concert, Ray Cooper performed a 40-minute drum solo.
- Barbra Streisand opened the arena with two concerts on December 31, 1993 and January 1, 1994.
- The Bee Gees gave a concert on November 14, 1997 on their “One Night Only” tour.
- On the weekend of March 23-24, 2007, the Dave Matthews Band played a 266-minute concert.
- Beyoncé gave a sold out concert as part of their "Beyoncé Experience Tour" 2007.
- Madonna gave eight concerts over a period of seven years.
- Cher gave two concerts in 1999 as part of her “Do You Believe? Trip". VHS later released the DVD "Live in Concert".
- On November 18, 2001, Britney Spears gave a concert as part of her Dream Within a Dream Tour , which was recorded by Home Box Office and released on DVD (Britney Spears Live from Las Vegas) .
