Mac Miller
Mac Miller (born January 19, 1992 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † September 7, 2018 in Los Angeles , California ; real name is Malcolm James McCormick ) was an American rapper . He also worked as a music producer under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman . He also produced a season of his own reality TV show Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family .
Life
Miller was self-taught and was able to play the piano , guitar , drums and bass by the age of 6 . He started rapping at 14 and released his first mixtape, But My Mackin 'Ain't Easy , in 2007 at the age of 15 . The mixtape How High and the preview album The Jukebox followed in 2009 . In early 2010 Mac Miller signed a record deal with Rostrum Records. On August 13th, 2010 he released his mixtape KIDS (Kickin 'Incredibly Dope Shit). This was followed in 2011 by the mixtape Best Day Ever and the EP On and On and Beyond .
On November 8th of the same year his first album Blue Slide Park was released , named after a park in his hometown. The album deals with the places of his youth. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 144,000 copies in its first week. In 2013, Miller starred on his own reality television show, Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family , produced by MTV . The show followed the production of his second album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, which was released on June 18, 2013.

On May 11, 2014, Miller's 10th mixtape came out, Faces , which dealt with topics of drug use, celebrities and the past. The next album, GO: OD AM , was released in September 2015 and was Miller's first major label record. The album debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200. Less than a year later, Miller released his next album, The Divine Feminine , which was about love and sex. On August 3, 2018, he released his fifth album, Swimming , which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, with sales of 66,000 copies in the first week. The album was nominated for the Award for Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards 2019.
On September 7, 2018, Mac Miller was found dead at his home in Studio City , a borough of Los Angeles, at the age of 26 . An accidental, combined overdose of painkillers, alcohol and other drugs has been found to be the cause of death. The autopsy revealed residues of fentanyl and cocaine, among other things .
On January 8, 2020, Miller's first posthumous album was announced by his family, Circles , which was released on January 17. At the time of his death, Miller was still working on the album, which was to be released as a companion album to Swimming . The production was completed by Jon Brion, who also worked on the production of Swimming .
