Maciej Gołąb

Maciej Gołąb (born October 25, 1952 in Lębork ) is a Polish musicologist .

Life

Maciej Gołąb studied musicology from 1971 at the University of Warsaw with Józef M. Chomiński and Zofia Lissa . He received his doctorate after a dissertation on the history of the theory of twelve-tone technology (1981). In 1990 he completed his habilitation at the University of Warsaw with a thesis on Chopin's harmonics. After working as a research assistant, Gołąb taught from 1994 to 2003 as a professor of musicology at the University of Warsaw. In 2003 he became full professor of musicology at the University of Wroclaw . Gołąb held two visiting professorships: at Indiana University Bloomington (1999) and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2001). His main research interests are the music of the 19th century , especially Chopin, and the 20th century (musical modernism), music theory , music aesthetics and music analysis .
