The Taluk Madhavaram ( Tamil : மாதவரம் வட்டம் ) is a taluk (sub-district) of the Tiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The main town is the eponymous city of Madhavaram .
geography
The Taluk Madhavaram is located in the southeast of the Tiruvallur district in the suburbs of the metropolis of Chennai (Madras). It borders on the Taluks Ambattur in the southeast and Ponneri in the north and the city district of Chennai in the south. To the east lies the coast of the Bay of Bengal .
The Taluk Madhavaram is congruent with the Puzhal block. Its area is 117 square kilometers.

According to the 2011 census, the Taluk Madhavaram has 596,753 inhabitants. Due to its proximity to the metropolis of Chennai, the Taluk is highly urbanized and densely populated: 95.0 percent of the population is classified as urban, the population density is 5,100 inhabitants per square kilometer.
history
The Taluk Madhavaram was created in 2009 as a spin-off from the Taluk Ambattur, which had experienced significant population growth due to the expansion of Chennai. As a result of the city expansion of Chennais in 2011, most of the Taluk Madhavaram including the main town Madhavaram was incorporated into the urban area of Chennais.
