Manali ( Tamil : மணலி Maṇali [ ˈmaɳəli ]) is a district of Chennai (Madras), the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . Manali forms one of 15 zones ( zones ) Chennais and comprises seven Neighborhood ( wards ).

Manali is located in the north of Chennai, around twelve kilometers from the city center. Manali is an important industrial location and has, among other things, a petroleum refinery, petrochemical industry and fertilizer production. While Manali is now heavily urbanized due to the growth of Chennai, the northern parts of the Manali zone are still clearly rural.

By 2011 Manali was an independent municipality ( municipality ) in the district Tiruvallur with an area of 16.0 square kilometers and a population of 28,597 (2001 census). But the place had long since grown together with Chennai and became part of the Chennai agglomeration . With the city expansion of Chennai, Manali was also incorporated into Chennai administratively. The former municipality of Manali together with the also incorporated municipalities of Edayanchavadi , Sadayankuppam , Kadapakkam , Theeumpakkam , Mathur and Vadaperumpakkam form the Manali zone.
