Ambattur ( Tamil : அம்பத்தூர் Ampattūr [ ambʌt̪ːuːɾ ]) is a district of Chennai (Madras), the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . Ambattur forms one of 15 zones ( zones ) Chennais and comprises 15 Neighborhood ( wards ).

The Ambattur lake

Ambattur is located in the west of Chennai, around 15 kilometers west of the city center. The Ambattur Zone has an area of ​​38.5 square kilometers. In Ambattur there are two smaller lakes, the Ambattur lake and the Korattur lake . In the north, Ambattur also borders the shores of the larger Puzhal lake .
