Madhepura is a city in the Indian state of Bihar . The city is part of the ancient Mithila region .
The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . Madhepura is located near the border with Nepal and approx. 284 km from Bihar's capital Patna . Madhepura has the status of a City Council ( Nagar parishad ). The city is divided into 26 wards (constituencies). Nagar parishad Madhepura had 54,472 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 28,980 were men and 25,492 women.
The Madhepura train station is part of the Purnia - Saharsa - Samastipur section . There are direct trains to Patna, Darbhanga , Katihar , Ranchi , Delhi and Kolkata .
