Madjid Fahem , sometimes spelled Madgid Fahem in the press , (* 1973 in Mantes-la-Jolie ) is a French guitarist of Algerian descent.

At the age of 16 he found himself playing the guitar when he gained his first experience on an old acoustic guitar from his father. Django Reinhardt and Paco de Lucía are among his musical role models , while Dire Straits and Eric Clapton influenced him in the early phase of his musical development.

Madjid Fahem first played with various local bands and then joined the formation La Kinky Beat until he joined the band Radio Bemba, founded by Manu Chao , as a guitarist in 2000 . Through his solo appearances on the live album Radio Bemba Sound System , especially in the live version of Desaparecido , and his stage presence, he also became known to a larger audience. He also appears partly alone with Manu Chao without the rest of the band members, for example in 2007 on the occasion of two concerts in Cuba. Manu Chao values ​​the collaboration with Fahem very much, in an interview he described Fahem effusively as “a monster, one of the best guitarists in the world”. Other sources also see the musician as a clearly outstanding artist. For example, the Paraguayan newspaper E'a speaks of Madjid Fahem being “a number 10 among musicians.” This comparison is based on the prominent importance of the number 10 player on a football team. The Argentinian music portal www.rock.com.ar also made such a connection to football that, with regard to Madjid Fahem's guitar playing , it drew a parallel to Maradona's playing style . The Argentine daily Diario Uno sees him as an exceptional guitarist. The Cuban magazine Bohemia gave him the nickname Magic in 2009 because of the guitar solos he performed. Fahem, having previously used a Fender Stratocaster , uses a Gibson SG for the electric guitar pieces and a classical guitar for pieces like rumba or traditional pieces.

In addition to his involvement with Radio Bemba, Fahem is also involved as a musician on the Argentine radio program La Colifata . He is also involved in various solo and side projects of the other members of Radio Bemba. He played the guitar on two La Kinky Beat albums . In 2009 he was back as a guitarist in this band and played with them at the Colombian music festival Rock al Parque . He also recorded an album with Roy Paci & Aretuska . He also appears together with B-Roy ( B.Roy et sa bande ) as a duo at concert events. As a guest musician he plays individual pieces on the album Asthmatic Lion Sound Systema by Fermin Muguruza and on the album Tudo É Possible by Che Sudaka .
