Mads Christensen (born April 6, 1984 ) is a Danish cyclist .

Career

As a junior Christensen won six Danish league titles, including five on the train in the disciplines of two-team driving , individual pursuit , team pursuit and 1km time trial and on the road in the individual time trial . In 2001 he won the elite titles in two-man team driving, single pursuit and team pursuit.

He won the Danish U23 championship title in road racing in 2003 and in the individual time trial in 2004 . At the 2004 World Championships in Verona , he was third in the U23 road race behind Kanstanzin Siuzou and Thomas Dekker .

In 2005 he received his first contract with a UCI ProTeam , the Belgian team Quick Step-Innergetic , for which he competed in the Giro d'Italia in 2005 and finished in 142nd place. After a few years with smaller teams, he signed a contract with the Danish ProTeam Saxo Bank in 2011, for which he drove until the end of the 2013 season and won a stage of the Flèche du Sud in 2010 and the mountain classification of the Tour of the Basque Country in 2012 . He also finished the Vuelta a España 2011 as 160th and the Giro d'Italia 2013 as. 126.
