Mads Vinding (born December 7, 1948 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish jazz bassist.

Vinding began playing as a professional jazz musician in 1964. For a long time he was the house bass player in the famous Monmartre jazz club in Copenhagen, accompanying numerous foreign jazz musicians. He played u. a. with Herbie Hancock , Stan Getz , Lee Konitz , Chet Baker , Quincy Jones , Ben Webster , Hank Jones , Peter Herbolzheimer , Johnny Griffin , Duke Jordan , Kenny Drew , Martial Solal , Bob Brookmeyer , Putte Wickman , Charlie Mariano , Art Farmer and Dee Dee Bridgewater . In the early 1990s he played with Alex Riel in the trio of pianist Thomas Clausen ( Psalm , 1994). He was also part of the Finn Savery trio .

Vinding founded his own trio, which started in 1997 with Enrico Pieranunzi and Alex Riel and won the award for best jazz CD in Denmark with the album The Kingdom Where Nobody Dies . In 1998 he played in his trio Roger Kellaway and from 1999 with Carsten Dahl on the piano. With their album Six Hands, Three Minds, One Heart (Stunt Records 2000, Live from the Copenhagen Jazzhouse) they won three Danish Grammys.

He also wrote some film music.

In 2007 he received the Django d'Or (Denmark) as a Master of Jazz and in 1982 the Ben Webster Prize .
