Maduka Emilio Okoye (born August 28, 1999 in Düsseldorf ) is a Nigerian - German football goalkeeper who is under contract with Sparta Rotterdam and is a Nigerian national player.

Career

society

Okoye began playing football at the Düsseldorf district club SC Flingern 08, initially as a striker, then as a goalkeeper. He enjoyed his training in the youth training centers of Borussia Mönchengladbach and eight years in that of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . At the age of 18, the goalkeeper moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf , where he played in the A-Juniors Bundesliga , but also made his first appearances for the regional league team .

From the 2018/19 season he was a permanent member of the team and took turns with Jannick Theißen and Mario Zelic in goal. Under head coach Uwe Rösler , Okoye was in the Bundesliga squad for the first time on matchday 22 of the following season as a backup for Florian Kastenmeier .

On July 13, 2020, he moved to the Dutch first division club Sparta Rotterdam for two years with the option of a further two years .

National team

In mid-October 2019, Okoye made his debut in a friendly between Nigeria and Brazil after substituting for the injured goalkeeper Francis Uzoho .
