Magdalene Schauß-Flake

Magdalene Schauß-Flake (born July 25, 1921 in Essen ; † September 24, 2008 ) was a German church musician and composer .

Ms. Schauß-Flake studied church music (B-exam) at the Folkwang School in Essen and in Berlin (A-exam). During her studies she worked as a jazz musician in bars. Her teachers were Siegfried Reda , Ludwig Weber and Hans Chemin-Petit . After completing her studies, she initially worked for some time as a lecturer at the music academy in Stettin , followed by a position as a church musician in Anklam , Essen-Kupferdreh and Essen-Altendorf . She later lived with her family, first in Bergen near Kirn and from 1960 in Burgsponheim . She was married to the theologian Schauß, with whom she had three children. She has given concerts as an organist in Europe and the USA. She spent her old age in a spa monastery in Bad Kreuznach . She found her final resting place in Burgsponheim.
