Magnus Schlette

Magnus Schlette (born 1965) is a German philosopher . He heads the research area of theology and natural sciences at the  research facility of the Evangelische Studiengemeinschaft eV  (FEST) in  Heidelberg and is a private lecturer at the Philosophical Seminar at Heidelberg University .

Life

Magnus Schlette studied philosophy and sociology at the Free University of Berlin, the CAU Kiel and the Goethe University Frankfurt from 1988 to 1996 . From 2005 to 2008 he was a fellow at the Max-Weber-Kolleg of the University of Erfurt and a scholarship holder of the University of Erfurt's habilitation funding . In 2003 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Frankfurt. In 2010 he received his habilitation in philosophy at the University of Erfurt . Since 2011 he has been head of the "Theology and Science" department at FEST Heidelberg.

In 2012/2013 he was a substitute professor for philosophical anthropology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . 2013–2014 he was Visiting Research Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg “Dynamics in the History of Religions between Asia and Europe” at the Ruhr University Bochum , 2014–2015 Fellow at the Marsilius Kolleg at Heidelberg University , 2017–2018 Fellow at Max-Weber -Kollegs for cultural and social science studies.

He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the journal Interdisciplinary Anthropology .

Schlette deals with theories of freedom and the theory of the humanities. He examines theories of secularization and individualization . Furthermore, he deals with aesthetic experience and ethical judgment.
