Maija Holopainen (born February 22, 1978 in Liperi ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Holopainen made her international debut at the 1998 Junior World Championships in Jericho and Val Cartier, Canada , where she finished 35th in the individual and 48th in the sprint. At the 2001 European Biathlon Championships in Haute-Maurienne , France , she achieved eighth place in the relay together with Satu Pöntiö , Anna-Liisa Häkkinen and Pirjo Urpilainen .

She had her first appearance in the biathlon world cup in 2002 with the relay in Östersund , where she achieved seventh place with Eija Salonen , Sanna-Leena Perunka and Pirjo Urpilainen. At the same World Cup location, she competed in the sprint and finished 73rd. Until the end of 2003, she stayed in the last third of the World Cup and only reappeared in the IBU Cup in 2006. At the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf , she reached 65th place in the sprint. A year later at the Biathlon European Championships 2007 in Bansko , she started in three disciplines and was in sprint 44, in individual 32 and in pursuit, she came in 30th place.
