Chansontage of the GDR
The GDR Chansontage (also called the GDR Chanson Days ) was a national music competition in the GDR . They took place in Frankfurt (Oder) from 1973 to 1992 .
procedure
The chansontage was - with exceptions - held every two years in late autumn as a competition with accompanying workshops . Participants were chanson singers, actors and songwriters , and occasionally folk musicians who sang their own lyrics. They were delegated by the district commissions from the beginning of the 80s until the fall of the Berlin Wall . Before that, no delegations, just registration, were necessary. The chanson days were organized by the state committee for entertainment arts, for example by Wolfgang Wallroth, who also appeared several times as a participant. Until the fall of the Wall, the "main prize" was given by the GDR Minister for Cultureforgive. Other prizes were the "Prize of the General Directorate of the Committee for Entertainment Art", the " AWA Prize ", the "Prize of the Association of Composers and Musicologists of the GDR ", the "Prize of the Writers' Association", the "Prize of the Central Council of the FDJ ", the “Prize of the VEB Deutsche Schallplatten ”, the “Prize of the Patron” (the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt), the “Prize of the State Committee for Television”, the “Prize for the most controversial program” as well as recognition prizes and prizes for young talent.
history
The chanson days took place in 1973, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1992 (for the eleventh time). They were organized by the Entertainment Arts Committee and were a competition in which in principle anyone could participate.
In 1987 Stefan Körbel (previously Karl's grandson ) won the main prize based on the decision of the jury. For political reasons, however, the main prize was awarded to Gerhard Gundermann .
In the 1990s there was an attempt to revive the festival, which failed after a short time. The songwriter Matthias Görnandt started a second attempt in 2004. He had the idea of holding a German-Polish event in the border town. The name of this annual festival is "transVOCALE - European Festival for Song and World Music ".
