Heinz-Martin Benecke (* 1938 in Leipzig ) is a German singer-songwriter , actor , machine setter and author .

Life

Benecke studied journalism for three years and was arrested in 1961 as a member of the satirical cabaret of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, "Rat der Mockers". He was imprisoned for nine months for "counter-revolutionary" agitation. After his "rehabilitation" he became a machine setter and finally studied at the "Hans Otto" theater school in Leipzig. He graduated with honors. Benecke worked for the next 17 years as an actor at the Leipzig Theater. From 1983 he was active as a songwriter and reciter. This was followed by music productions for radio and for ten years freelance work at MDR Kultur and other musical and literary projects. Benecke is part of the Leipzig song scene .
