Maik Damboldt (born August 31, 1964 in Weimar ) is a German dancer , ballet master and choreographer .

Life

Maik Damboldt grew up in Weimar and his interest in the stage and dance began at an early age. At the age of 10, he studied at Gret Palucca's ballet school in Dresden to learn classical dance. He also took courses in modern dance and jazz dance . In 1982 he was engaged by the German TV Ballet in East Berlin. Some time later he was appointed soloist for the company. In the Saturday evening shows on GDR television , he danced alongside Dagmar Frederic , Helga Hahnemann and Karel Gott .

After the collapse of the GDR , further involvement with the German TV Ballet was called into question, as this ensemble was threatened with its end. Then, when in 1992 the existence of the ballet was assured - came Damboldt in the television shows of ARD and MDR and ZDF on. So he worked u. a. soloist at the festivals of folk music , melodies for millions and the Jose Carreras Gala . In 1996, the dancer appeared as an actor in the three-part film Tanz auf dem Vulkan , in which Marlène Charell and Daniela Ziegler also played.

After switching his main work from active stage dance to choreography, he was hired in 2001 as a choreographer at the Revuetheater Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin . Damboldt was appointed ballet master there in 2003. Since then he has choreographed for the new revues of the Friedrichstadt-Palast, a. a. for Casanova , Rhythmus Berlin , Glanzlichter , Jingle Bells and the summer revue . He was also responsible for the palace's girl series on several occasions. He also founded the Maik Damboldt Dance Company . For the cabaret theater Die Oderhähne (Frankfurt / Oder) he has rehearsed several choreographies, most recently in summer 2008 for the program Czardas-Würstchen . Now and then he also appears as a dancer in the ballet of the Friedrichstadt-Palast. He had his last TV appearance at the end of December 2007 in the ZDF Saturday evening gala Thank you Dieter Thomas Heck with the German TV Ballet.
