Maik Handschke (born July 19, 1966 in Schwerin ) is a German handball trainer . Until 2003 he played as a professional for various clubs in Germany.

Handschke played handball in Schwerin until he was twenty, then was delegated to ASK Frankfurt (Oder) , where he played until 1989. From 1990 to 1992 he was in Düsseldorf, from 1992 to 1997 in Dormagen, from 1997 to the end of the 2000/01 season at TUSEM Essen and then until the end of the 2002/03 season at VfL Gummersbach on the position of the circuit . In addition to his playing activities, Handschke took over the coaching position for the regional division TuS Derschlag from September 2002 .

After completing his playing career in the 1st Bundesliga, he took on an engagement as a coach at HC Empor Rostock in 2003 . Here he led the club back to the 2nd Bundesliga. Between November 2008 and April 2010 he was a coach at ThSV Eisenach in the 2nd Bundesliga South .

In July 2010 he took over the coaching position at the then second division team TUSEM Essen. In 2012 he was promoted to the Bundesliga with TUSEM . In November 2012, the association separated from Handschke. From November 2013 to September 2015 he trained TV Großwallstadt . In November 2015, Handschke took over SV Mecklenburg Schwerin , which he coached until the end of the season. From July 2016 to November 2016 he coached the second division EHV Aue . Since the summer of 2017 he has been the sports director of the Luxembourg handball association. In September 2017 he took over the interim coaching position of the Luxembourg national team .

Maik Handschke was used as a player for the national team 32 times . He scored 53 goals.

His son Felix Handschke is a professional handball player.
