Maik Hosang (born December 29, 1961 in Bautzen ) is a German philosopher , futurologist and social ecologist .

Life

Hosang studied philosophy , psychology and anthropology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In connection with the theories of Johann Gottlieb Fichte , Nicolai Hartmann , Max Scheler , Manfred Eigen , Erich Jantsch u. a. He received his doctorate in 1990 on the subject of "Man in the evolutionary layers of self-organization."

Together with the philosopher Rudolf Bahro , he set up an institute for social ecology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and worked there from 1990 to 1998.

In 1993 he founded the socio-ecological model project LebensGut in Pommritz together with friends and with the support of the Saxon Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf . After Rudolf Bahro's death in 1999, he transferred the Institute for Social-Ecological Cultural Research (ISÖK) there.

In addition to managing this institute, he has been the professor for cultural philosophy and transformation research at the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences since 2012, where he contributed to the establishment of a research group for sustainable transformation processes. In 2010 he founded the Alliance for the Future of Upper Lusatia together with the Saxon state parliament members Stephan Meyer and Franziska Schubert .

Continuing the ideas of Rudolf Bahro, he advocates the thesis that the development of diverse forms of new community or a new "we-consciousness" is an important part of the sustainable transformation of modern societies. However, this new we or this new or transmodern community must not be backward-looking and primarily self-referential, but must integrate the freedom and openness of modern systems and media.

With this attitude, Hosang contributed to the dissolution of the previous, more traditional community of LebensGood and to its reorganization as a multifaceted, integrated cultural, life and business project. Together with the board of directors of WBS-Training AG, Heinrich Kronbichler, and other fellow campaigners, he reorganized it according to the principles of Holacracy , the economy of the common good and the philosophy of life .

In 1999 Hosang completed his habilitation with the thesis "Homo sapiens integralis. Transdisciplinary terms for sustainable development" (later published in the book "Der Integrale Mensch") at the Humboldt University Berlin as the first German in the new teaching and research area of social ecology.

In a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Hosang compared different socio-ecological approaches to thinking and research and, together with the environmental scientist Bernd Markert and the biochemist Stefan Fränzle, developed the theory of the biocultural or "emotional matrix" - an emotional deep structure which, in their opinion, underlies all human cultures and societies and has a similar meaning for social systems as the genetic code for biotic systems.

Other focal points of his work are the connections between ecology, ethics and freedom, as well as sustainability and happiness research. He developed and realized the philosophical adventure exhibition in Lebensgut together with the artist Ulrich Schollmeyer and other colleagues.

Together with the neurobiologist Gerald Hüther and the theologian Anselm Grün , Hosang developed a transdisciplinary “theory of cocreative love”.

Others

Together with Heinrich Kronbichler, Dolores Richter and Simone Debour, he initiated the philosophy festival of love, which has been held annually in Berlin since then.

Hosang published the philosophical-utopian novel Eve's World. Love in times of climate change .
