Maik Makowka (born July 6, 1979 in Rendsburg ) is a former German handball player who was active in the Bundesliga .

Career

Makowka began playing handball at Büdelsdorfer TSV when he was five . In 1997 he moved to SG Flensburg-Handewitt , where he initially played in the A-youth and the second team. It was not until 2000 that the left-hander was part of the Flensburg Bundesliga team, with which he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2001.

On March 13, 2001, he played his only international match for Germany . He scored three goals against Norway . Since the SG Flensburg-Handewitt had an oversupply for left-handers in 2002, he was loaned to the Spanish first division club BM Altea for a year . After his return he moved to the Bundesliga club SG Wallau / Massenheim .

In 2005 he moved from Wallau / Massenheim to the Italian club SC Meran. In 2006 he returned to Germany to the Bundesliga club HSG Düsseldorf , with whom he was relegated to the 2nd division in 2007.

In the summer of 2008 he returned to Flensburg, and ran two seasons for the regional division DHK Flensborg . He then signed a contract with the then Danish second division club Sønderjysk Elitesport. In the summer of 2011 Makowka rose to the top Danish league with SønderjyskE. In summer 2012 he left SønderjyskE. Then Makowka ran on for the second division promoted SV Henstedt-Ulzburg . After Henstedt-Ulzburg was relegated a year later, he ended his career and has been a teacher ever since. In the 2014/15 season he was assistant coach of a youth team at SG Oeversee-Jarplund-Weding .
