The Main North Road is a main thoroughfare in the center of the Australian state of South Australia . It connects downtown Adelaide with the Princes Highway in Stirling North , southeast of Port Augusta .

course

From the city of Adelaide, the Main North Road runs as a national highway A1 north through the Adelaide Parklands and the suburbs throne gate Medindie, Medindie Gardens, Nailsworth, Prospect, Sefton Park, Blair Athol and Enfield , and then in Gepps Cross the Grand Junction Road (NA16, A16) to cross. From there, Port Wakefield Road (NA1) continues north, while Main North Road turns northeast and continues as the A52 state road to Gawler .

In Gawler it runs through the city center, while the Northern Expressway (M20) forms the bypass to the west of the city. In Gawler, the Barossa Valley Highway (B19) branches off to the east. North of the city, the Gawler Bypass meets the Main North Road again and the Sturt Highway (NA20) branches off to the northeast. The Main North Road, now State Road A32, continues north into the Clare Valley wine region . From Giles Corner , the Barrier Highway (A32) runs north-northeast, while the Main North Road, now the B82, runs north-northwest, over Clare and through the southern Flinders Range to Wilmington .

From Wilmington, the road, now designated State Route 56, continues to accompany the Flinders Range on its western edge to west-northwest over Horrocks Pass to meet the Princes Highway (NA1) at Winninowie . Together with this, it continues its way to the northwest, where it ends in Stirling North , 6 km southeast of Port Augusta.

Feeder
