The Mainzer Höhenweg is a high alpine, demanding high path in the Ötztal Alps in Tyrol .

It leads from the top of the pass above the Braunschweiger Hütte (2759 m) to the Rüsselsheimer Hütte (2323 m, formerly Neue Chemnitzer Hütte ). If the conditions are good, you can expect ten hours of walking (without breaks). The path leads among other things over the Polleskogel , Wurmsitzkogel and Gschrappkogel . The Rhineland-Palatinate Bivouac is located about halfway, just below the Wassertalkogel summit , at an altitude of 3247 m. This bivouac and the entire Mainzer Höhenweg are looked after by the Mainz section of the German Alpine Club . South of the bivouac, the Mainzer Höhenweg runs almost constantly on or near the ridge of the main ridge of the Geigenkamm.

In the meantime there is also the Little Mainzer Höhenweg (KMH), which leads around Mainz .
