The Braunschweiger Hütte is the Alpine Club hut of the Braunschweig section of the German Alpine Club . It is located in the Ötztal Alps near Mittelberg in the rearmost Pitztal . It is on the European long-distance hiking trail E 5 .
history
The hut was built in 1892 and expanded in 1932 and 1965. A general structural renovation took place from 2010 to 2012, and a seminar room was also set up.
getting there
By train to Imst , by bus or car to Mittelberg or Sölden .
Ascent
From Mittelberg
On the road at the end of the Pitztal along the Pitze into Gries to the valley station of the material cable car (at Gletscherstübele) and from there on the marked trail to the hut. A walking time of approx. 3 hours is calculated for the approximately 1,000 meters of altitude . Luggage can be transported on the material cable car.
Alternatively, you can take the Pitztaler Gletscherexpress to an altitude of 2841 m . From there, descend along the chairlift, cross the glacier tongue of the Mittelbergferner and climb to the hut, which can be seen from afar. However, glacier equipment is necessary to climb the relatively harmless glacier. The walking time is about 1 hour at about 100 meters altitude.
From Sölden in the Ötztal
Either from the top Rettenbachjoch car park ( 2780 m , accessible via the Ötztaler Gletscherstraße toll road ) to the Pitztaler Jöchl ( 3001 m ) and on to the hut (200 meters in altitude, walking time approx. 1 hour) or from the slightly lower car park at the restaurant with the Rettenbachjoch Train to Rettenbachjoch, then descend briefly but steeply to Karlesferner and cross to the hut (approx. ½ hour walking time).
