The Hohenzollernhaus is a refuge of the Category I of Section Starnberg the German Alpine Club , in the Oetztal Alps . It is located at 2123  m above sea level. A. Höhe in Radurschltal , southeast of Pfunds below the bell tower ridge in the Nauderer Mountains . It offers space for over 60 people and is managed in summer. It has a freely accessible winter room for 10 people.

history

The Hohenzollernhaus is named after the Hohenzollern section of the DuOeAV, which was founded in Berlin in 1905 . The Hohenzollern section originally wanted to build a hut at the Kaiserjoch in Kaunertal , but the Frankfurt am Main section had anticipated it, so the decision was made to go to the Radurschltal near Pfunds. After a short construction period, the hut was opened on August 3, 1924 and offered space for 20 mountaineers; in 1928 it was expanded for the first time. With the outbreak of the Second World War , the number of overnight stays fell. After the Alpine Club was banned in 1945, the Hohenzollernhaus fell into the trust management of the Austrian Alpine Club . In 1954, an extraordinary meeting of the DAV took place in Starnberg , in which the future of the German smelters administered by the OeAV was negotiated. In 1956 these were returned to their respective previous owners.

The Starnberg Section dealt with a high alpine hut in the mid-1960s. The Starnberg Section not only wanted to look after this, but also own it itself. After long negotiations, the Starnberg Section was able to acquire the hut from the Berlin Section in 1978 . In the course of time the Hohenzollernhaus was renovated again and again, so in 1984 the material ropeway was renovated and the former emergency warehouse was converted into a room with 16 mattress dormitories. In 1989 an additional winter and self-catering house was completed. In 2003 a wastewater treatment plant and a small hydropower  plant were put into operation on the Radurschlbach . In 2018, a sewage treatment plant was built that was made necessary by new laws.

In 2016, a mudslide caused by heavy rain fell over the Radurschlbach and destroyed two cars parked at the valley station of the material cable car. In 2019, a mudslide broke off from the direction of the Hüttekarferner above the upper Radurschltal, which turned the Radurschlbach into a lake about two football fields. In order to minimize the danger for the hut, the water level of the lake was lowered a little. Since then, the lake has been an attraction for visitors.

The Hohenzollernhaus is managed by the Waldner family from Pfunds.
