The Gepatschhaus is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Frankfurt am Main section of the German Alpine Club . The refuge of the second category is in the rear Kaunertal in the Oetztal Alps . The Kaunertal Glacier Road, which is subject to a toll, has been passing not far from the hut since 1980 . The Gepatschhaus and the chapel have been a listed building since 2013 .
history
The Gepatschhaus was built in 1873 as the first German Alpine Club hut in Austria. In the years 1892, 1911 and 1958 the house was expanded and partially renovated in 2005. Right next to the Gepatschhaus is the Maria Schnee chapel , which was inaugurated in 1895.
On July 25, 2019, the road in the valley was mucked up to 4 m high , so that access by car was interrupted. 80 people on the Gepatschhaus and Gepatschalm are affected.
Ascent
Since the house is only a few meters away from the Kaunertal Glacier Road, you can drive to the house by motor vehicle. The “Gepatschhaus” bus stop is also two minutes away.
