Wolfgang Spießl

Wolfgang Spießl (born August 14, 1938 in Stamsried , † January 22, 1998 in Munich ) was a German politician.

Spießl joined the Bundeswehr in 1959 and worked as a sergeant and Spieß until 1991 .

In 1966 he was elected first mayor of the Stamsried market as a candidate for free voters. At that time he was the youngest mayor of Bavaria and the first member of the Bundeswehr to hold such an office. He later switched to the CSU .

In 1972 he became a member of the district council of the Cham district , in 1978 a member of the district council of the Upper Palatinate and, among other things, advisor for youth, sport and culture.

In 1996 he was elected 2nd Vice President of the Bavarian Municipal Council and in 1998 he was elected to the Bavarian Senate . He died on January 22, 1998 during a Senate session.

For his commitment, Wolfgang Spießl was awarded, among other things, the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Gold, the State Medal in Silver and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class.
