Maja Lunde (born July 30, 1975 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian writer and screenwriter .

Life

Maja Lunde grew up in Bislett, a district in the north of Oslo. In 1996 she began studying literature with a minor in psychology at the university in her hometown, before taking up a course in media and communication studies with a specialization in film history . As part of this course, Lunde published a work on the Norwegian film director Nils R. Müller in 2001 .

After completing her studies, Maja Lunde worked, among other things, for culture and film festivals, cinemas and film museums in Norway, and during this time she was already writing scripts for Norwegian television, especially for children's programs.

She has been a full-time screenwriter since 2009. In 2012 the Norwegian published her first children's book, Over grensen, about Jewish children who flee from Norway to Sweden , which was not occupied by the National Socialists , in 1942 . Her first novel was published in Norway in 2015 under the title Bienes historie (German title: The history of bees ). In this, she combines environmental problems using the example of bee deaths with personal fates. Lunde got the idea for this after seeing a documentary on the subject in 2013. Because of the great success of the book in Norway, the publication rights were sold in more than 30 countries, including Germany .

When writing her first novel, the author planned to publish a total of four books on the subject of the environment, a so-called climate quartet. The second book in the series was published in 2017 under the title Blå (German title: The History of Water) in her home country. In 2019, Przewalskis hest (German title: The last of their kind) was published, the third book in the series.

Maja Lunde is married and has three sons.
