Make Love, Not Warcraft is the 147th episode in the South Park series . It is the eighth episode of the tenth season and won the Primetime Emmy Award on September 8, 2007 in the category "Animation show (less than an hour)".

action

A griefer named Jenkins permanently prevents Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny from playing World of Warcraft by killing their characters. Jenkins is portrayed as a quiet, obsessed and overweight gamer whose only purpose in life is to play the said game and who “has absolutely no life” . The guys call developer Blizzard to complain about the player, but they can only be put off by banning him from the network. However, this turns out to be more difficult than thought, if not impossible. Because the griefer has allegedly been playing the game uninterruptedly every day since the game appeared a year and a half earlier and he has reached a level that was considered unattainable. This allows him to defy the limits of the rules of the game and kill anyone as he pleases, be it gamers, game masters or administrators. In the course of the game, Stan's father also begins to be interested in the game, but his online character is killed by Jenkins shortly afterwards. The developers at Blizzard are visibly worried about the future of their game and also at a loss about how to kill someone who, like Jenkins, "has no life".

Meanwhile, Cartman is planning a campaign of revenge against Jenkins and persuades all the boys in South Park to join the game online. Ultimately, however, this plan is doomed to failure. Jenkins easily gets rid of his opponents in the game. Frustrated, everyone turns their back on the game and looks for other pastimes. At Blizzard it is becoming clear that many more players will soon stop playing out of frustration, which would herald "the end of the world of Warcraft". Cartman does not give in, however, and tries to persuade Stan, Kyle and Kenny to collaborate on a plan. This involves killing low-tier wild boars in the initial area of the game where Jenkins cannot find them. However, since they do not yield enough experience points, they play the game 21 hours a day for the next two months. Your diet is now limited to microwave dishes, instant noodles and energy drinks . In the course of following this plan, they will become lazy and overweight , neglect their hygiene, and develop diarrhea and acne .

The guys at Blizzard will soon be noticed. But despite the rapid progress of the players, who progress level by level, they are not given great chances of success. Blizzard decides to help players fight Jenkins and give them the Sword of a Thousand Truths - a weapon so powerful that it has been removed from the game. "Salzman from Accounting" had it saved on a USB stick, predicting that the time would come when it would be of great use. The boys are already in the heat of the moment, which has been going on for 17 hours. However, until they get the sword, they still have no chance of victory. Blizzard employees arrive at Stan's house, but discover that the battle is being fought in Cartman's basement. Stan's father tells them that he is also a World of Warcraft player and can give the boys the sword over the game. At first the staff hesitates because Stan's father is a noob , but they have no other choice. Stan's father logs into the game on a computer in a supermarket and gives Stan the sword, but is mortally wounded by Jenkins shortly afterwards. Stan avenges the death of his father (or his character) and weakens Jenkins with the power of the sword before Cartman gives him the fatal blow.

World of Warcraft players who were hiding from Jenkins all come out of hiding and celebrate the boys' victory over Jenkins. When Stan asks what they would do next, Cartman soberly replies that they can finally play the game.

background

The first broadcast of the episode ran on October 4, 2006 on the US television station Comedy Central . The German version of this episode was broadcast on March 28, 2007 on MTV Germany . It was created in cooperation with the game manufacturer Blizzard and mostly takes place in the virtual world of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft . The title Make Love, Not Warcraft is a play on the slogan Make love, not war , which the hippies of the time regarded as a protest against the wars in 1967.

A World of Warcraft success "Make Love, Not Warcraft" was dedicated to the episode , in which you have to hug a defeated player. In this show, some of the South Park characters cast a character in the game and control it in the virtual world. The episode deals with the topic of computer game addiction in a satirical way and takes up some clichés.

The grief named "Jenkins" is obviously based on the internet celebrity Leeroy Jenkins .
