Maki Asakawa
Maki Asakawa ( Japanese 浅川 マ キ Asakawa Maki ; born January 27, 1942 in Hakusan , Ishikawa Prefecture , † January 17, 2010 in Nagoya , Aichi Prefecture ) was a Japanese singer , songwriter and producer .
Live and act
She began her career in Tokyo as a singer in cabarets and in front of members of the US armed forces. Her first EP Tokio Banka was released in 1967 by RCA Victor . She gained wider fame in 1968 through recordings of a three-day concert series in Shinjuku organized by Terayama Shuji . Shortly thereafter, she signed a contract with EMI Music Japan . She wrote the score for the film Throw away the books and goes on the street by Terayama Shuji in 1971 and played a supporting role. She also worked with jazz musicians Yosuke Yamashita , Akira Sakata, and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto .
She was found dead by employees in a hotel room in Nagoya on January 17, 2010. Illness is assumed to be the cause of death.
