Mallersbach's chapel

Mallersbach is a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Hardegg in Lower Austria .

history

In 1190 Mallersbach was first mentioned as "de Imrimspach". First records indicate that there were 39 houses in Mallersbach in 1590. In 1990 there were 93 houses. Since fragments of stone axes were found on the "Hochfeld", it is assumed that the area around Mallersbach was already settled in the younger Stone Age. The origin of the name Mallersbach goes back to a combination of the Slavic personal name "Mirin" and the German word "Bach". In the 17th century the place was given its current name.

geography

Mallersbach lies in a hollow, surrounded by the Lochwiesberg (southwest, 452 m), the Heufurthsberg (southeast, 439 m), the Dunklkopf (northwest, 489 m) and the Schindberg (northeast 448 m). Neighboring towns are Felling, Riegersburg and Heufurth.

Landscape / townscape

Forests surround the place on three sides. Around the village, however, there are fields that are tilled by the farmers. The place has seen many positive changes in recent years, including the appearance of the place. The village renewal association has redesigned the village square: where there used to be only the intersection, there are now a few parking spaces. Some flower beds embellish the place. A crow statue was erected (the Mallersbachers are referred to as 'crows', [e.g.] the Riegersburger as frogs).

economy

Until 1975 there was a kaolin mine in Mallersbach , where kaolin had been mined since the end of the First World War . The company had to be closed due to the lack of raw materials. Today the economy consists of a few smaller companies.
